Merek presents several arguments in his case. I don’t agree, but I respect his opinion. YOU BE THE JUDGE.
I certainly respect his opinion and admire his persistence but still think this band is not very good and/or not my thing. I don’t like Radiohead or Frog Eyes either.
They would be well received here in Montreal though, that’s for sure.
But they’re fucking nothing like what you are describing. You seem to be assuming that they’re real fucking hipsters and they’re absolutely nothing of the sort. I’ve played gigs with them and they were shy as fuck and really quite nice. complementary to my band (which just shows how polite and open minded they were - and I don’t mean polite in the fake smiley way). I really hate bringing stuff like this up, but it’s useful to my argument.
Musically they’re not hipsters either - I seriously don’t see them copying anyone or any trend. Frogs Eyes - bollocks, they’ve never heard of them. Anthony Hegarty - I can’t see it, besides he doesn’t have the sole rights on falsetto. Kings of Leon - get to fuck! that’s such a stupid comparison I can barely even counter it.
Plus, I wasn’t saying they were like Radiohead, I was saying that he was a good singer like Thom Yorke. I’m not a massive fan of theirs either. though probably more than you from the sounds of it.
